NEW ORLEANS, LA–The Real Reporter editorial team received First Place (Gold) at a national journalism competition, by an 87 year-old organization of editors and writers covering the residential and commercial real estate sectors.
The Real Reporter picked up first in the category of “Best Commercial Trade Magazine”, with its Annual Investment Yearbook publication entry.
The National Association of Real Estate Editors (NAREE), announced the winners Friday, June 10th at its 66th annual competition. Michael Walsh, publisher, accepted the award at Harrah’s Hotel & Casino. Joe Clements (editor-in-chief), Michael Hoban (writer), and Jay Fitzgerald (writer) all contributed to the annual report, while Bill Samatis of Launchpad Boston was responsible for design and production of the award winning issu.
“The Real Reporter Annual Investment Report is a comprehensive review of the previous year in New England commercial real estate,” the judges commented about the Investment report. “The amount of information is stunning and is a must read for anyone in real estate in the greater Boston area.”
Walsh says being recognized for the amount of preparation, interviews and writing that goes in to the annual publication is appreciated. “This is a large undertaking; one that involves using thousands of transactions from our own database, then coupling the information with hours of interviews on the teams that complete the investment deals. In particular, Boston is a very active and leading city in capital markets deals, so gathering and reviewing a year’s worth of stories is quite a feat … the editorial team should be very proud of this distinct award.”
The entries were judged by a panel from the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University.
This is the second award in five years for the Boston based publication. In 2013 The Real Reporter won second place nationally in the category of “Best Web site” from the NAREE. Launchpad Boston handles the branding, design and development for The Real Reporter Media Corporation.
